Morecambe entertained a strong Bolton Wanderers side featuring ex-England star Emile Heskey at the Globe Arena on Friday evening and came from behind to win the friendly fixture 2-1. Stephen Dobbie opened the scoring for the Trotters, beating Barry Roche in the home goal after 32 minutes with a shot from what the home defenders claimed was an off-side position. Aaron Wildig slotted home past Ben Amos to equalise just eight minutes later after good link-up play with Wildig and Paul Mullin. Despite further chances – notably for the visitors – it was all-square at half time. Mullin then put the hosts ahead after just four minutes of the second half when he pounced on a poor back-pass by Bolton`s Derik Osede. There were wholesale changes by both Managers after this and the game lost a little of its shape. Friendly matches don`t necessarily mean very much in the greater scheme of things but Jim Bentley must be pleased that his men kept on going against what – on paper at least – was superior opposition.
