Midfielder Craig Stanley has snubbed Morecambe’s offer of a new contract and instead signed a 2 year deal with follow League 2 side Bristol Rovers.

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley had offered Stanley a new deal and was hoping he would stay after his loan spell away from the club but he opted for a fresh start.

Stanley will join up at the Memorial Stadium with Paul Buckle who his played under during his loan spell at Torquay United and the main reason why he made the move.

Morecambe will not be paid a transfer fee for the player as he was out of contract at the end of the month.

sending Craig out on loan was the wrong message if we wanted him to stay !!

True but it was Sammy who sent him out on loan so you can’t really blame anyone else. If we are being honest he will get a better chance of playing at a hight level with Bristol than us.
