Morecambe went down to their first home defeat under Jim Bentley when Preston North End were the visitors on Wednesday night.

Keammar Daily gave the visitors a half time lead when on 32 minutes he fired the ball home after some good football from Paul Coutts as he beat the Morecambe defence before providing the assist for the goal.

After the break it didn’t take Preston long to double the lead when Jamie Proctor scored in the 48th minute after beating the Shrimps defence once again.

In the 51st minute Phil Jevons had the chance to pull a goal back from a penalty after Garry Hunter was brought down in the box however Preston’s German keeper Thorsten Stuckman guessed the correct way to parry the shot away.

In the 57th minute play was put on hold after a skirmish involving Dan Parkinson resulted in Linganzi being taken off for Preston.

George Miller wrapped up the result after he fired the ball home from 18 yards giving Barry Roche no chance in goal.

The result ended Morecambe’s good run of pre season form but you know what they say ‘results don’t matter in pre season’.

Morecambe’s next game is away at Southport on Saturday before the last friendly against a Manchester United XI on Moday 1st August 7.45PM. the first game of the season is Barnet at home on Saturday 6th August 3PM.

Vital Morecambe would like to wish Jim and the team all the best for the 2011/12 season.
