Morecambe have completed the signing of striker Jack Redshaw from Blue Square North side Altrincham.

The 21-year-old impressed boss Jim Bentley while on trial at the club and signed an 18-month deal with the Shrimps on Tuesday.

Redshaw made a goalscoring debut in the reserves last week in a 4-1 victory over Tranmere Rovers.

It is belived Morecambe had to fight off interest from several clubs to secure Redshaw’s signiture and a delighted Jim Bentley told the clubs official website ‘Jack is a player with great potential. He may only be small but he is strong and quick and has a real eye for goal. He has a good attitude and I am really looking forward to working with him. He is definitely one for the future and a lot of clubs were interested in signing him so I am delighted that he has chosen us.

He will wear the number 27 shirt and could make his debut along with fellow new signing Joran Burrow in the home game against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday 4th February.
