Jamie Devitt has said that he didn’t take much convincing to join Morecambe this week, having come to the club on loan.

Jim Bentley snapped up the Chesterfield winger for an initial one-month loan spell and he took part in a practice game at Carrington this week, Manchester United’s training ground, which gave him the chance to get some football as will his loan spell.

Devitt only joined Chesterfield last summer, following his release by Hull, but has plenty of experience from various loan spell in the past that have allowed him to previously play at the Globe as well as get to know some of the current Shrimps players.

The club isn’t unknown to him, nor are some of the players and he “jumped at the chance” of coming to the club.

He told the official website: ‘I’ve played here a good few times because I’ve been on loan at quite a few clubs so I know a good few of the lads and it’s a good club to come to and I’m looking forward to it.

‘I know Padraig Amond, Marcus Marshall, Kevin Ellison and a few more as well.

‘I spoke to them before I came up and they said there’s a good group of lads and a good team spirit.

‘I’m really looking forward to it. I jumped at the chance really because I haven’t been playing much at Chesterfield so I just want to play.’
