Scott Davies’ loan spell with Morecambe has been extended into the New Year.

Jim Bentley has praised the former Shrimps ‘keeper, who of course came back in on loan from Fleetwood Town recently, for his form upon his loan return and was delighted to extend his deal until early January.

Bentley told the official website: ‘I’m really pleased that we have managed to keep Scott for another few weeks because he has been outstanding for us so far.

‘He made some great saves at Portsmouth on Saturday and has been excellent for us since joining.’

Davies was due to come to the end of his loan spell after the three-nil defeat at Portsmouth on Saturday but a deal to extend the initial one-month spell was agreed with our rivals to keep him until January 3rd gives us a little more time to get Andreas Arestidou fully fit.

Arestidou is working his way back to fitness after an ankle injury, which should be fully healed by the time that Davies’ loan will end that is of course assuming we aren’t able to extend this loan again?
