Morecambe opened their league campaign at St James Park on Saturday afternoon with another victory to follow their exceptional performance in the Capital One Cup at Blackpool last Sunday, where they won 1-2.

The Shrimps opened their account for this season when Andy Fleming – who also scored at Bloomfield Road last week – netted for the visitors with almost a quarter of an hour on the clock. He was on the score sheet again just ten minutes later, instinctively turning a long clearance from Grecian goalkeeper Krysiak into the net with a first-time shot from a long way out.

And with only half an hour gone, the game was effectively over when Izak Reid found the back of the net again for Jim Bentley’s side.

One game played; one game won with a clean sheet into the bargain. The Lancashire team could not have asked for a better start.
