Jim Bentley got his career as a manager underway on Tuesday night with a 1-1 draw in a pre season friendly at Scottish First Division side Raith Rovers.

With the sides level at the break the Shrimps made three half time changes. Barry Roche was replaced in goal by former Oldham stopper Shaun Routledge while Andy Parrish and Chris McCready came on for Nick Fenton and Will Haining.

With just quater of an hour remaining Morecambe finally took the lead with Lewis Alessandra grabbing himself a debut goal.

In the 80th minute Raith grabbed an equaliser through John Baird to ensure the Scotts had a share of the spoils.

Overall a good performance from Morecambe against a side who have already got a couple of games under their belts. Next up is Blackburn Rovers XI on Saturday.

Vital Morecambe would like to wish Jim and the team all the best for the 2011/12 season.
