Morecambe beat Carlisle United on Tuesday night to record a first victory for Jim Bentley.

Garry McDonald was named on the bench ahead of the game and was brought on in the second half for his debut.

Carlisle went ahead in the 23rd minute after Rory Loy struck the ball outside the box and the4 ball rocketed into the net.

Kieran Charnock got Morecambe back on level terms on 78 minutes when he found the net after a Garry Hunter corner.

Five minutes later and the scoreline had been been turned on it’s head when Phil Jevons was fouled in the box and a penalty was awarded. Jevons stepped up to take the spot kick and tucked the ball home to make it 2-1.

Morecambe now take on Derby County at home on Friday night (7.45PM kick off).
