Morecambe earned a point away from home on Saturday when Kevin Ellison popped up in the 91st minute equaliser to deny former club Bradford City all 3 points at a frosty Valley Parade.

Morecambe started the game well and won three consecutive corners within the first couple of minutes, although nothing came of them.

Morecambe`s first real chance of the game fell to Danny Carton but the out of form striker fired wide when he should have really tested the Bradford goalkeeper.

James Hanson hit a shot straight at Barry Roche for the home side in a dire first half that never really got going and it was a relief when the referee blew for half time.

The game came to life on the hour when after Morecambe had attempted to clear away a shot from Wells the ball found Richard Ravenhill on the edge of the box who made no mistake in smashing the ball into the back of the net to give Bradford the lead.

Morecambe introduced top scorer Kevin Ellison into the game who had dropped to the bench after picking up a back injury in training during the week. Morecambe then started to press and Lewis Assesandra almost caused a scare when his effort fell just wide of the post.

With time running out Morecambe managed to grab the equaliser when Bradford defender Andy Davis inadvertently turned a Laurence Wilson cross into his own net and Morecambe snatched a point – Or did they?

In the 89th minute James Hanson had a shot well saved by Roche and when Morecambe failed to clear their lines Marcel Seip pounced to restore the Bantams lead and it looked like the points would be staying in West Yorkshire after all.

The Morecambe players looked deflated but they didn`t give up and in their last attack of the afternoon Phil Jevons found himself with space inside the penalty box and laid the ball back to Ellison who grabbed the Shrimps a share of the spoils and wrapped up a very entertaining 5 minutes!

Morecambe stay in 12th position in the table and extend the superb away form which they will be looking to take back to the Globe Arena next Saturday when Torquay United are the visitors.
