Bentley: Lowest I’ve Been As A Manager

Morecambe’s FA Cup exit to Dover Athletic at the weekend was not only a true FA Cup upset, and an embarrassment for the Shrimps, it has left the boss at his lowest since taking the job.

Bentley’s been involved in upsets as a player and a manager but the one-nil defeat to non-league Dover on Saturday was a new experience for him as the boss and it’s not one that he’s enjoyed at all.

It’s left him at a new low and ‘absolutely devastated’ with him understanding why the fans were left disappointed, to say the least, at full time.

He told the official website: ‘It’s the lowest I’ve been as a manager.

‘I’m absolutely devastated and our fans had every right to have a go at us as we went off the pitch. I’ve not had that as a manager but I take it on the chin.’

Stefan Payne’s goal was enough to not only knock us out but see us suffer a third successive defeat with us now beaten in eight of our last 11 games in all competitions….

Plenty of Shrimps fans travelled to the Crabble, they went in expectation but were left with disappointment and Bentley knows that they were let down, he went on to praise those ‘superb’ few that went who lost the dream of a third round plum tie.

This can’t be made up for easily but what we certainly need to do, and soon, is get out of this slump in form we’re on.
