With a “little bit left in the budget” Jim Bentley is hoping that he can secure the signings of Padraig Amond (pictured) and Mark Hughes.

The duo are currently training with the club following their releases by Accrington and Bury respectively.

Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire: ‘Padraig is a player I’m keen on. I think we need another forward player and he’s got goals at this level.

‘He’s with us, as is Mark. It would be good to get both of them on board.

‘We’ve had to make cutbacks here and there, but there’s a little bit left in the budget and it’s just how I spread it to get the balance right.’

Striker Amond and defender Hughes have plenty of experience and would bring something to Bentley’s squad, if not starting XI, so if a deal can be done it would be good for the club to get this done.
