Morecambe were unlucky to go out of the FA Cup after a well fought game at Cheltenham but were unable to find the back of the net.

Cheltenham almost had a dream start to the game when JJ Meligan`s shot from a free kick narrowly missed. Barry Roche came to the rescue for Morecambe pulling off a number of fine saves in the opening stages to keep the scores level.

Again Cheltenham pushed for an opener but Marlon Pack was again denied by Roche. The Shrimps almost broke the deadlock on 26 minutes but Phil Jevons couldn`t get the shot on target.

The first half ended 0-0 but Cheltenham were perhaps the better side.

In the opening stages of the second half Morecambe had a good spell with chances for Craig Stanley and Stuart Drummond.

In the 55th minute a deflection from a Phil Jevons shot almost went in but the Cheltenham keeper made a good save to keep Morecambe out again. On 67 minutes a fantastic volley from Drummond dipped just over the cross bar.

Cheltenham did take the lead with 10 minutes remaining through Wesley Thomas after the ball dropped to him in front of the Morecambe defence and his shot resulted in the ball hitting the back of the net.

Morecambe didn`t have any real chances in the closing stages and it finished 1-0 to send Cheltenham into the second round.
