Paul Mullin had made enough of an impression during his trial with Morecambe in pre-season to earn a contract with the club.

A short-term contract at the Globe Arena was confirmed ahead of the pre-season friendly with Kilmarnock on Saturday, which as meant to be a meeting with Bradford City but that fixture was cancelled after the sides were drawn together in the league cup.

Jim Bentley told the official website: ‘Paul has been excellent since he came here. He has looked sharp up front and scored a couple of good goals in the games.

‘He is young and hungry to do well and we look forward to working with him.

‘He may only be 19 but he is strong and you can tell he has had a good football education as well and I am looking forward to working with him.’

The former Liverpool youngster, released by Huddersfield Town over the summer, is now looking to earn himself a long-term stay with the Shrimps and couldn’t have boosted those chances more by scoring twice against the Scottish outfit!
