Morecambe came out 3-2 winners in a pre season friendly game against Southport at Haig Avenue on Saturday afternoon.



The opening goal for Morecambe came stright from a Southport attack. JP Kissok’s shot was saved by Barry Roche and after the rebounded header came back off the bar Morecambe broke away and Izac Reid was on hand to make it 1-0 to the Shrimps.



Morecambe made it 2-0 shortly before half time when new signing Nick Fenton headed home to give the visitors a two goal lead going into the break.



Southport pulled a goal back in the second half when sub keeper Shaun Routlegde made a save but Port scored with a second effort.



Stuart Drummond got Morecambe’s third goal which proved to be the winner when he chipped the ball over the Southport keeper into the net.



Southport pulled a goal back when Joe Culshaw brought down a Southport player in the penalty box. Routledge went the right way but could not prevent the ball from finding the back of the net.



Morecambe held on for the winner and the game finished Southport 2-3 Morecambe.



Next up the the game against Manchester United XI on Monday before a Morecambe XI travel to take on AFC Flyde on Tuesday night to finish off pre season.
