Morecambe earned a 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers in Jim Bentley’s first home game as Morecambe manager on Saturday afternoon.

After an entertaining opening 25 minutes Morecambe took the lead through Phil Jevons who slotted the ball past Mark Bunn in the Rovers goal.

Blackburn went close to getting an equaliser before half time when Gavin Gunning had a header cleared off the line by Garry Hunter.

In the second half Blacburn thought they were denied a penalty but the referee failed to point to the spot much to the anger of the Blacburn fans in the Bay Radio Stand.

Blackburn then had chance after chance and finally got the breakthrough with 15 minutes remaing when Mauro Formica struck the ball into the Shrimps net to earn the Premier League side the draw.

The game was a good workout for both sides and we can now look forward to the next game on Tuesday night.
