Alan Goodall didn’t take much convincing that Morecambe was the right club for him before officially signing a contract this week.

32-year-old Goodall, most recently with Fleetwood Town but also formerly of Chesterfield, Luton Town and Rochdale, agreed to sign for the Shrimps this year linking up with Jim Bentley, who he already knew, after a short trial this summer.

The experienced midfielder was key to Fleetwood’s promotion last season but was still released and with no shortage of takers for him this is a great signing for the club and he should do well this season.

Goodall also feels that Morecambe can do well with him not taking long to decide that coming to the Globe Arena was the right decision for him.

He told the official website: ‘Being from Liverpool I know the gaffer well and really respect what he and Ken McKenna have done at the club.

‘It didn’t take long for me to see the dressing room spirit here was something special and I have really enjoyed myself here in pre season and really think we have a side that can do well this year.’
