Morecambe are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Ryan Edwards in the one all draw with Portsmouth in midweek was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Edwards was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Morecambe followed up Saturday`s win over Grimsby Town with another inspired defensive performance, although their backline was breached this time around at Portsmouth. However, the Shrimps managed to grab a point despite Pompey having 26 shots, with Edwards making a key goal-line clearance to preserve the 1-1 scoreline.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Edwards for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Karl Darlow (Newcastle United), Will Nightingale (Wimbledon), Charlie Mulgrew (Blackburn Rovers), Ryan Edwards (Morecambe), Tom Pett (Stevenage), Louis Dodds (Shrewsbury Town), Callum Styles (Bury), Carl Winchester (Cheltenham Town), Ricky Holmes (Charlton Athletic), Adebayo Akinfenwa (Wycombe Wanderers), Lewis Alessandra (Hartlepool United).

Manager – Kevin Nolan (Notts County).
