Morecambe are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s midweek action.

The performance by Ryan Edwards in the two nil victory over Portsmouth last Tuesday at the Globe Arena was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Edwards was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Edwards netted his maiden EFL goal on Tuesday in Morecambe’s 2-0 Sky Bet League Two triumph over Portsmouth. Then, try as they might, the visitors couldn’t find a way past the 22-year-old and the stubborn Shrimps’ backline.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Edwards for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Bartosz Bialkowski (Ipswich Town), Nathan Smith (Port Vale), Ryan Edwards (Morecambe), Carl Magnay (Hartlepool United), Brennan Dickenson (Colchester United), Isaac Hayden (Newcastle United), Ryan Leonard (Southend United), Ricky Holmes (Charlton Athletic), Tom Nichols (Peterborough United), Ched Evans (Chesterfield), Gavin Massey (Leyton Orient).

Manager Nigel Clough (Burton Albion).
