Manager Jim Bentley has called last night’s victory over Rochdale a fantastic achievement for the club as we booked our place in the next round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Speaking to the media in his post game press conference, a delighted gaffer told the Lancaster Guardian that he felt it was a fantastic achievement for Morecambe to have reached the Area Semi Final stage of the competition.

‘What a night, I`m absolutely made up. We`ve had a little bit of a sticky spell and come here tonight against a very good League 1 side. But every one of the players tonight was absolutely unbelieveable. Our crowd travelled over in great numbers like they did against Bury in the last round as well and I`m absolutely made up for them.’

Bentley’s pleasure was evident, and he went on to add.

‘We haven`t fluked it tonight, let`s get it right. I thought we deserved it. We missed a penalty as well and had a golden chance at the end with Jamie Devitt one-on-one with the ‘keeper. But we`re into the semi-finals and it`s a great achievement what the lads have done. To beat Walsall when they were top of the league, to beat Bury who were the form side in the country at the time and then to come here and beat a team like Rochdale is an unbelievable achievement. I`m made up for everyone at Morecambe Football Club.’

Now we see who awaits in the Semi Final and whether we can keep this run going and have a very unexpected trip to Wembley in 2015-16.
