Morecambe visited the Hive for the first time on Saturday and came away with their second 0-0 draw in the capital in two weeks. Barnet Manager Martin Allen was at the Globe Arena last Tuesday to see the Shrimps tamely capitulate to the Bees` neighbours Dagenham in the FA Cup and must have fancied his own team to also overcome the men from the Lancashire seaside after their dire display on the night. But Jim Bentley`s team didn`t let him down on this occasion in the way they had earlier in the week. In a game of few chances, the visitors probably just about shaded the first half and but for goalkeeper Jamie Stephen’s excellent save from Tom Barkhuizen after being set-up by Paul Mullin after half an hour, they could have gone ahead. Two minutes later, Barkhuizen managed to actually put the ball in the net but his effort was ruled-out for offside. The second half, however, saw Barnet – a physically big team playing with the wind at their backs – slightly on top although they were unable to take any of the half-chances they created. The Manager – who described the result against Dagenham as a `disaster` – professed himself pleased with a point and a battling display after the game. The result saw the Shrimps in fifteenth position in League Two. Barnet were two places beneath them and three points behind having played one match more.Ref: Fred Graham.
