Youth player Nathan Bondswell has been tied down to a professional contract with Morecambe.

The former Derby County youngster has impressed with the Shrimps since joining the clubs youth set-up, with the left winger pitting in some impressive performances for the youth and reserve teams.

Head of youth Stewart Drummond is delighted to have the youngster, who enrolled at the Lancaster & Morecambe College at the start of the 2013/14 academic year, tied down.

He told the official website: ‘Nathan has been one of the young players that we have been monitoring for some time and after many positive performances for the college, youth and reserve teams we’re delighted to finally secure such a promising youngster at the club.’

Jim Bentley is looking for him to kick on now that he has the professional deal.

The boss added: ‘He’s a very good prospect with great potential, he’s done well in the reserves and hopefully we can help him achieve what he’s capable of.’

Bondswell hasn’t made his first-team debut yet but will be looking to do so down the line with him handed the squad no.29 for this season.
