Manager Jim Bentley has praised the side for putting in a battling performance against Dagenham in the weekend’s FA Cup first round draw.

With the game ending goalless, it obviously goes to a replay and that’s already been set for Tuesday November 17 and it will carry a 7.45pm kick off time.

For the gaffer though, he told the Lancaster Guardian that whilst it won’t be a game that fans remember, he had to be happy with how we dug in and ensured we remained in the competition and had another bite at the cherry.

‘We knew coming into the game it was going to be difficult. They hadn`t won at home and are bottom of the league but form goes out of the window. The team that had been struggling has been changed around quite a bit and they changed formation too. It was a difficult day with the swirling wind too so it was more of a battle.’

Bentley went on to say that ‘battle’ was what both teams did really and there was little football played by either side.

‘That`s what both sides did and there wasn`t much football played. We created opportunities and probably shaded it, having a big shout for a penalty which hasn`t been given. That seems to be a thing that`s gone against us in recent weeks. We`ve had three and scored three but we could have had plenty more as well. Overall it was all about getting in the hat for the next round and that`s what we`ve done.’

In other Dagenham related news, our league encounter has also been postponed.

We were due to host them at the Globe on Saturday, but with a number of call ups for the international window from their side, the game has been bounced and a new date is yet to be set.
